FERTILISATION

Hemp It Conseils De Culture Fertilisation

Industrial hemp does not require the same quantities of NPK or trace elements as cereals; it is an intermediate crop.

Hemp has the following requirements:

  • 80 units of nitrogen in the form of 1846 + ammonia or liquid nitrogen
  • (Hemp may require a total of 120 U of nitrogen and returns approximately 40 U N with the cover crop.)
  • 80 units of phosphorus
  • 120 units of potash (be aware of deficiency)
  • Magnesia: Minimum 100 U
  • Sulphur: Minimum 60-70 U (300 kg/ha of gypsum and 1.5 tonnes of poultry manure at sowing)

Note: After the first 80–100 days of the hemp cycle, this should all have been absorbed. Soil structure conducive to soil development: Fragmentary, lumpy structure. The soil type most compatible with industrial hemp cultivation is loam (beware of soil crusting).

If there is significant residue (previous grassland, green manure, excessive fertilisation), >there is a risk of lodging, depending on the variety (Fibror 49) and climate. If lodging occurs, the quality of the fibre is degraded, the plant is damaged in general through contact with the soil + impossibility of harvesting grains.
